Madden & Micah Update

Hi Everyone,

PHEW!! Let me tell you guys, when I say that I have my hands full with these little dudes...I mean it. I haven't had much time to blog because I'm busy watching them and observing and taking care of the little guys. I think that they're adjusting very well. They learn so fast! They know that when I say "NO" or make a little hissing noise or snap my fingers, that they better get out of whatever they're getting into. They're eating pretty good...and they are GREAT drinkers!!! I'm also beginning to see their little personalities come out. Madden is such a sweetheart. Super lovable and sweet. He is way obedient too. I think that he just wants to please me. He reminds me so much of Milo. Micah on the other hand, he is well.....Micah. He's sometimey, a bit of rebel and super chunky. Sometimes' he can be a bit of a bully (Madden can definitely hold his own though), but he's also the scariest one out of the two. So typical of a bully. A couple of questions have been popping up inmy mind over the past couple of days, so I will ask you all when I come back. I've got to go to work now, but I will be back WAY soon!!!

THEY ARE HERE!!!!!!

Hi everyone!!

I know it sucks that this is going to be a very short post, but I totally have had my hands full alllll day yesterday and today! But guess what?!! I finally got my KITTENS!!! And here they are!! Madden and Micah (my-kah) are my new kitties. Madden means "he who loves God" and Micah means "he who knows God". They are Milo's bros hehe! I was supposed to post this surprise yesterday, but I was so busy with them. I'm a MOM again!! Here are just a couple of pictures of them, needless to say that there will be MORE!!! They are eaters and sleepers for real, and I haven't quite gotten my kitty photography skills yet hehe. I don't have much time to chat but they are sooo cute and I am so happy to be their Mommy. Everything is going great but I am facing some litter and "painting the town brown" type of issues. My friend Jackie (the foster mommy) ran out of her food so I didn't get to transition them like I wanted to. (I'm paying for it now lol) On the bright side, they love their holistic food. Micah is actually pretty chubby hehe. They're in a Happy Cat Habitat right now so they don't get into anything crazy and....I'M SUPER EXCITED!! I'll update you all later this evening or in the morning! Told ya I had a surprise hehe!!

Learning to be Lonely

Hi everyone,

Hope you're having an amazing Wednesday morning. I had to wake up super early to be at work by 7:45AM for a "State of the Company" meeting. Unfortunately, I don't actually have to work until 1pm and since I have no car to call my own, am currently stuck hanging around until that time. Also, I close the store tonight so it truly will be over a a 12hour day for me. Until I start work, I'm chilling in the mall's Barnes & Noble on my laptop. Perhaps doing schoolwork. I'm actually feeling kind of lonely and a bit pathetic today. It's tough when all of your friends live out of town and you have no car to get around in. I really dont go anywhere at all. I really wish that I could go to the movies, or out to eat with someone. On top of that, I think that I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what I would like to do with my life lol. Since I was six, I've wanted to be in fashion and I have stayed true to that path. However, with all of my education and interests, I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what my next move is.

I could really use a kitty right now.

Japan's Little Ones

Hey everyone,

I know its been awhile, but can you believe what's happened since we last chatted? Japan and this earthquake/ tusnami/ nuclear issue is so unfortunate. My heart is really going out to Japan right now. So much misfortune in such a short amount of time. Despite the pictures on the news, I still can't imagine all of the devastation and pain Japan's people are facing. The scary thing is, there's an old saying that bad things come in threes. Perhaps that means that Japan is due for some amazing good luck now.

The other day while I was watching the news, I all of a sudden thought....WHAT ABOUT THOSE POOR PETS!!! So many lost little lives, and so many still trying to survive out there. They don't have any food, drinkable water, no owners to take care of them and their dealing with radiation! Oh my gosh, I don't know what I would do. That's why I'm going to have a little emergency plan for when I get my kitties. I'm going to scoop them up, grab the emergency bag and make a run for it. I trying to thin of an organization I could donate to for the pets and cam across this international organization called ARK. They're really trying to do what they can for the little furries and they even have lost pets from the tsunami/earthquake up for adoption! You all should go to the website and check it out!

On the home front, not much going on. However, there is a slight chance that I could be getting my kitties soon...like within a couple of weeks. Shhhhh! I don't want to get mine or your hopes up too much. But stay tuned!! Muhehe.

Love Yourself!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm having a quiet day off today. It's kind of overcast outside and I just woke up from a three-hour nap. I'm super groggy, and while staring at my computer trying to wake up, I had an epiphany. I really love myself! I love who I am. I love kitties. I'm nerdy. I love to watch cartoons, and I live in the library. And it's all good! Give yourself a big ol hug today yall! Cuz we're all getting down in this jiggy jungle and we're doing it well. As Rupaul would say," How the hell you gonna love your kitty, if you can't love yourself?" Can I get an amen? Amen! Okay so I modified it a little bit but hey...it works.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all have a wonderful V-Day! I spent the day sick and babysitting my uber-baby cousin. I don't do well with kiddies....just kitties! Any who I hope all of you have a love filled day with your loved ones, special someones, VIP and fur babies. I stopped by the Hope For Life Rescue website and read about the new cats coming into the shelter. I totally shouldn't have done that because some of their stories are heartbreaking and I just want to adopt them ALL!! Now that's the kind of love I'm talking about on V-Day. Don't forget the lost little souls who need our help, they deserve love too!

A Day Off

Helloooo!

Finally I get a day off....after nine days of working straight. It is so nice to know that you don't have to go to work. I can be as lazy as a cat if I want to be. Scratch that! (no pun intended) I do have some errands to run. However, anything is better then work and I'll be happy to get out of the house (you have no idea). I want to thank some of my great friends Harry Spotter, Kea, Brian, The Island Cats and Sweet Praline for checking in with me and giving me some words of comfort hope and encouragement for the new year!! Some of you have been with me from the very beginning and we really are like a family. I will keep all of your kind words in mind should I ever feel discouraged. I was trying to catch up yesterday on all of the blogs and it's so interesting how we all have our ups and downs and are living our lives. But no matter what happens, we can go to our peaceful bloggging place and write about our special babies!

Besides that, I've been looking up some kitty booties all morning. Do any of you all take your cats walking on a harness and leash? I think it would be a good idea for my cats when I get them, because I always felt that Milo probably needed more fresh air (besides me opening the window at times). He would have loved all of the sites and sounds I think. But if I take my future cats out, I want to cover up their paws because they lick them and I don't want them ingesting anything funky or dangerous that happened to be on the ground. So far, all I've found are doggie booties, but the supplier said that cats could use them too...just a smaller size. I like Nooby's Booties the best so far. They're also really good for chewers and for covering injuries that are trying to heal. I'm also worried about the cats picking up fleas or little nasties when they walk. Should I cover them? (Like especially when it's cold outside?) Or maybe not let them get in the grass? They will definitely be on pest prevention. Hmmmm....so many factors to consider. I tell you cats are like children hehe!

HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR!!

Hello everyone!

It's a new year and I'm so thankful to see it! The last year has been a roller coaster of ups and downs for me. Transitioning from college to the real world is a trip, and what's with all the bills?! I'm also a total year behind on getting my kitties. But have no fear, my family and I have to move to a new house and I'm getting my cats right then and there! I really don't care what anyone in my family says, I'm just going to get them. I worked too hard in school not to do something for me, and I totally don't ask for much.

I know it's been awhile, but I can't wait to check out everyone's blog and see what you all have been up to. Quick synopsis of the year: my seven year engagement and relationship fell apart, seizures and new meds, quit my job at the vet hospital at the end of August because they treated me terribly and cheated people on the cost of pet care (so not my bag baby), two months later after another terrible break-up I got an amazing position with Nordstrom (you all know that my degrees are in Fashion Merchandising), turned 21, lost my aunt, and now I will be moving soon but staying in the area. Phew! That's a lot. I just know that this year is going to be even better! That's why I've decided to have a couple of resolutions. They are as follows:

I plan on climbing the promotional ladder at Nordstrom (I want to be a manager shhh),

I'm committed to eating better this year organically and sustainably,

I'm getting back into my music playing the cello,

I'm buying a cute pink bike and I'm going to try to take leisurely rides around my neighborhood a couple times a week,

Try not to say bad words as much (my Grammy hates it and tries to blame my mom for it, so not the case)

Keep blogging because I love you all and enjoy it so much,

ANNNND be the best kitty mom I can possibly be!!

So these are my resolutions. It's time to find myself a comfortable place in life and be a little more tenacious. I'm excited to hear what some of your resolutions are!! I'm so glad to be back. So please stay tuned and see if I can fulfill all of my resolutions this year.

Eco-Kitty & Me!!

Hi lovelies! I know it’s been awhile since my last post. It looks like I’m averaging about one post a week hehe…not that great, but as soon as I get more time on the net I’ll be able to post more. I had a beyond tiring week. I had to leave unexpectedly on Friday for Atlanta. My great-aunt has been sick for awhile and since she’s the only one of my Grammy’s sisters that lives so far away our family has been making trips there to see her in the hospital. This time, my Grammy, me, my mom, my other two great-aunts and my great-uncle had to make the 13-hour trip via rented van. Its bad folks. I can’t believe how ill she is and no one in our family wanted to leave her there alone. Alas, we had to leave her…there….with her very uncaring husband (we won’t spoil this post with more words on him). There is a great deal of illness in my family and I don’t want to become a part of that cycle. Do remember back in March when I had to start taking seizure medication and was going through all of that testing? Well somewhere I saw that eating a certain type of diet could decrease the number of seizures a person could have. I’m not sure what was driving me, but a couple of weeks ago I started checking out all of these vegetarian and eco-friendly books and what I read amazed me. I won’t bore you with all of the details but I’ve been reading The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight and Saving the Planet by Alicia Silverstone (Clueless actress and die-hard animal lover and activist), and I’ve also been reading the Gorgeously Green books by Sophie Uliano. To keep the post short, evaluating my diet led me to thinking about being more eco-conscious, which led me to double think about what our pets ingest. If we decide to rethink what we’re putting into our own bodies and what substances we come in contact with, we should definitely be doing the same thing for our fur babies as well! I’ve come across a number of websites for eco-conscious pet owners and I’m so excited about all of the options and natural products out there! Here are some of the sites:
www.thegreenpetshop.com (For pets who want to save the planet!!)
www.pureayre.com (All-natural plant-based cleaners to use around your precious babies, remember kitties have very sensitive systems. Whatever they come in contact with ultimately gets ingested because they’re always licking themselves clean.)
www.purrfectplay.com (They offer organic, chemical-free, dye-free, fair-trade materials for kitties)
www.harrybarker.comr (makes a line of hemp beds for dogs and kitties. Hemp is a fast growing plant, needs little water and is super kind to the earth and your pets. Kitties like chewing on hemp products, they’re non-toxic and they grow stronger and softer over time. P.S- The doggy beds are kitty beds too.)
These are just some of the many websites I’ve come by so far. I’ll be sure to put up more useful ones as I find them. There are also some awesome books for pets that I’ve been looking at as well. Hocus Pocus Kitt-ayyyyy!!

Hey friends!! It’s only one more day until Friday YAYAYAY!! I can’t believe it’s already October 21rst! As you can see from my blog background, me loveeee Halloween!! I wanted to really get into Halloween this year and get a cute little costume and go to a fun costume party. I’ve gone through high school and college…actually my whole life without attending a Halloween party and every year I hope to make it to one. For some reason, monetary issues always come up and I end up not being able to even afford a costume. This year, it’s just a bit worst…I can’t even afford to get into a party or fun event HAHA!! :D Oh well, looks like I’ll be spending another year watching 13 Days of Halloween and handing out candy to the scariest things of all (RAVENOUS CHILDREN!!!). It’s not so bad, I’m blessed to at least have ABC Family’s 13 Days of Halloween (Hope we paid the Direct TV bill). Speaking of 13 Days of Halloween, last night I watched Hocus Pocus!! I’ve been watching this movie since I was old enough to watch movies and it’s always a favorite for me!! I love the Sanderson Sisters, they’re sooo funny. You all know me so well, I’m sure you can probably guess who my favoritest character is….you’re right, BINX!! I love this little guy; the kitty who plays him is probably the most famous black kitty of all time. While watching the movie I started thinking about black kitties. You know, they get such a bad rep. There are so many negative connotations for the little guys…witchcraft, bad luck, the dark arts, you name it. While volunteering at shelters and through my research, I found out that there are more black cats in shelters than any other color because folks tend to dislike them! How cruel is that? Can you really call yourself an animal lover if you pick a pet (in need mind you) purely based on color? You know what? If I make friends with a little black kitty in a shelter, and I have the opportunity to take him home…YOU CAN BET THAT I’M DOING JUST THAT!! (I don’t care if my whole family is afraid of black cats…and most of them are...sillies.) I’d like to give a hearty applause to all of the parents out there who are giving animals in need good homes!! Especially black kitty parents, you guys are apparently the daredevils of the bunch! We are in control of our luck and make our lives what we’d like for them to be, not a cute defenseless kitten. So don’t discriminate. Besides, according to my Visual Reference Guide:Cats book and my dream dictionary, it’s the white kitties we gotta watch out for in terms of luck. Muhehehe!! Still don’t discriminate haha!!

Love In The Time Of Kitties...

Hi everyone!! I know it’s been awhile…..you would have no idea how much has been going on. Between going to North Dakota, internet issues (for a really long time) and house and family problems I haven’t had much time to blog. *Sigh* Folks, it always seems like there is some dilemma going on, but I guess the good moments in life wouldn’t be special if we didn’t have the speed bumps. I have to tell you all that blogging really has become a sort of therapy for me, like a diary or journal (except I never had much success with those when I tried to start them). So in the time that I haven’t been blogging, the anniversary of Milo’s passing has come and gone.  This makes me extremely sad. Even as I type these words I can’t help but tear up a little bit. With all of these issues going on, I just feel like I need him more than anything. Only kitty owners/lovers could understand what I’m talking about. My friends and family think I’m cat-crazy, which is why I come to you all with my thoughts.

It’s true; I’ve been missing Milo and kitty companionship so much. I know that I would be completely content if I had that. Milo would’ve cuddled with me through the engagement fiasco, comforted me when I cried, contemplated new relationships with me, given me unconditional love and a sense of peace through all of the daily drama. Sometimes, I would turn off all of the electronics and lay down on my bed. He would jump up and make himself comfy with his face right in my face, and we would stare at each other for a long time. He wouldn’t take his eyes off of mine for a second, and I swear it felt like he was looking right into my soul. It was like he understood all of my fears and worries and was telling me that it was going to be okay. We were conversing soul to soul. I don’t care what anyone says, that was a connection like I’ve never had in my life. There is something beyond powerful about cats, something so mystical and beyond our understanding. I know I probably sound radical but that’s what I truly feel.

Wow, this is a long post……sorry guys I just had to get this junk out of my brain.
I just want to thank God for sending me my little furry ball of love, Milo. He was such a great comfort and source of joy to me. For whatever little bit of time I had him, I am grateful that I got even that much. In life, nothing is promised, so appreciating the moments is sooooo important. I LOVE YOU MILO!!

I'M BACK!!!

Hi everyone!! I know it’s been such a long time since I’ve posted. You wouldn’t believe what has transpired during my first post-grad summer. But first, let me say that I’ve missed every single one of you SOOOO much!! I’ve always said this, but you all are my family (a kitty colony so to speak hehe) and I love conversing with you all. So much has happened that I couldn’t possibly make you all read such a long and boring post, so I will try to summarize my summer for you!!

If you all remember, the week after I graduated I started working at a veterinary hospital. Remember how excited I was? It was the dream job for me because I love the furries, I was getting paid an awesome salary and I was going to have benefits and flexible hours. Well, things didn’t turn out quite like that. After a few weeks I started to feel slightly taken advantage of. I think my superiors realized that I was eager-to-please (because it was my first REAL job) and quite young and they assigned me ridiculous hours and extra long days and even weekends. My fellow receptionists also took advantage of me by asking me to do things that they were supposed to do or have me do tasks that weren’t even in our job description as receptionists (poo-picking the yard…even though I’m not a kennel assistant). I always had a hard time speaking up for myself because they were all older (like 30 and over) than me (I was the youngest person in the whole practice) and I’ve always been told not to speak against your elders. At the time, my mother (a super strict business career lady) told me that at work we are all peers and adults, and just because I was younger didn’t mean that I couldn’t politely (but firmly) speak up when something was not right. Believe it or not, this was an extremely difficult concept for me to grasp and execute. On top of all of this, the air in the facility was so thick with dislike towards me that I could barely take it. Most of the receptionists were so mean and snippy towards me, and many of the veterinary assistants were very impatient and short as well (even though I was still in my three month training period). The only kind people in that facility were the doctors, two receptionists and my manager (at times) and there were like thirty employees working there. The last thing, and probably the factor that bothered me the most, was the fact that I believe this practice was CHEATING clients and patients!! I will save the horrors of veterinary practices post for later, but let me say this. The veterinary industry is extremely lucrative for a reason. We will leave it at that for now.

A week after I started at this practice I also started my Masters program. This proved to be one more issue. I realized that there was no way that I could work full time (hospital-like) hours and work on my Masters full-time and see the grades that I desired. Thus, with this proverbial “cherry on top of the cake”, I resigned from my position at the vet hospital after only three months. We can blame the vet hospital for my lack of posts…I wasn’t getting home until almost 10pm most nights folks…and then I had to do homework. I’m sorry you all. But I must say that I did learn some very important post-grad job and vet lessons (I am also beyond knowledgeable on companion animals now). I now know what to do the next time I work in a setting with that type of hierarchy.

So since then, I have been completely focused on my Masters program and am looking for a nice part-time job. As you all know, I had hoped to have new kitties by now but I’m still kitty-less. Some recent events have occurred and even though they seem bad now, I hope that they will lead to a living arrangement where I can have kitties and not be “practically disowned” for it. Also, if you all remember I was also engaged and that has fallen apart as well. After seven years, best friends getting married seemed to be just best friends. My former partner and I dropped the romantic relationship and engagement and are simply best friends. It’s working out great, we’re strictly platonic and we love the “no pressure” sense of it all. We’re both actually dating different people now. I have a new boyfriend and I’m absolutely smitten as a kitten! We dated in high school (during one of my former partner and my’s breaks) and I actually knew then that he was something special. The only way I can describe it is “stupid love”…more on that another post as well hehe. But yes…nowadays its school, job searching, occasional trips to North Dakota (to see the new honey, Air Force guy)…and YOU!! All of YOU! I’m soo happy to be back! I’ve bought many new kitty books over the summer and I’m packed full of interesting blog topics and I can’t wait to get back into my blogging!

First Day At Work!!

Hi Everyone!!

So, I had my first day at work at the vet hospital, and it went very well!!! I was so nervous this morning that I was nauseous (Bleh! Bleh!) and could only eat a piece of toast and a glass of apple juice for breakfast. I had a lovely full tour of the building, turned in some important papers and handled some official pre-employment type things, and started training. Everyone is super nice, it's mostly women and I think I'm really going to enjoy my time there. I wore my bright Easter pale green scrubs today so I felt all warm&fuzzy inside, and I had my special pendant from ML and KC around my neck so Milo was definitely with me. Everyone loved my necklace and raved about my white Mary-Jane style tennis shoes that I got from Walmart hehe. There were a lot of cute doggies and kitties there today. I can't wait until I reach the point when I can finally remember every one's names and start becoming familiar with the regular clients and patients. Customer interaction was my specialty while working at my school's gym, and I remembered all of my patron's names and what activities they liked to do. I hope to utilize that same approach at the vet hospital as well. I must say that there are a lot of veterinary medicine terms I have to familiarize myself with, not to mention the super high-tech and daunting computer system they have plus their overall routine that I have to learn. However, I enjoy a good challenge and after college, studying is probably the only thing I'm best at hehe. I better get studying for more training tomorrow! I left my pack of brochures that I was going to read through (I'm so DISTRAUGHT), so I won't get through as much as I'd like to. I can at least study the info I have and tackle those medical abbreviations some more, though.

Hello Everyone!!

I'm so sorry to be posting this post so late. As you can imagine my weekend was super hectic, and I've been trying to get ready for my first day at work (Tomorrow!!) the last couple of days. Finally I can post some pictures and tell you all about graduation. Well, it was wonderful!!! My Mommy invited my whole family to come and about 30 folks showed up! I really don't like for people to make a fuss over me, so I was actually in a slightly stressed state the whole time. Not to mention there were over 4,300 graduates and their families at Saturday's Commencement Ceremony in the Coliseum!! And I seriously have claustrophobia-tons-of-people syndrome! It was all I could do to keep it together hehe. Friday's School of the Arts Commencement Ceremony was a lot more low key, fun (they had a Mardi Gras parade and band), and had a lot less people. This was more my style. But overall, I had a wonderful experience and I'm glad I've officially completed college. Now I'm off to work my first real job (Benefits!! Yay!!) and start my Masters program. I think that 20 year old graduate students must be a rare occurrence hehe. I must also mention that wile I was watching the Doctorate grads receive they're degrees and honors, I decided that I have to have the extra long extravagant velour academic hood and velvet-paneled puffy sleeves and the different colored tassel and slouchy hat too!!! Therefore, I've decided that I'll go for my Doctorate as well....yup. That's what I'll do.

Special Note: After my graduation, I came home to the most wonderful gift ever!!! ML and KC from the Cat Blogosphere sent me a lovely pendant necklace with a picture of my Milo and a sweet saying on the back!! It's just what I always wanted and I'm so touched! I'm going to wear it to work tomorrow, so that I wont be too nervous. Thank you ML and KC!!! You're angels!!

Well, everyone I need to start studying my training and employee manual for work tomorrow. Wish me luck! I hope I do well. I'll tell you all how it went as well. Have a super fantastic day and more posts coming soon!!

Hello everyone!!

First and foremost, I would like to deeply thank every single one of you for leaving such amazing comments. I've been pretty emotional because of Milo's Bday, but you all just made me feel so much better. He embodied kindness, love and warmth to me and I see those things in all of you! A special thank you goes out to ML and KC from the Cat Blogosphere!! They were so kind and considerate when I asked them to post Milo's Bday announcement. They even put him on the official calender, in the "Angels" section and even made him a lovely banner!! Thank you for everything ML and KC!!!

It's the day before Graduation #1 (department graduation) and I have super exciting news! I got a job as a veterinary receptionist at an AAHA-accredited beyond awesome veterinary hospital!! I went to the interview yesterday and had a working interview today and they hired me!!! I didn't want to say anything until I had the job. That's why I've been holding off on this post for a couple days hehe. I start next Wednesday and I'm so excited!!! I'll be working at the hospital while working on my Master of Arts Degree and building up my fashion resume with a few internships. =) I applied for the job on Milo's Bday, so I know he blessed me by sending it my way, and was with me keeping me focused and calm during my interviews. THANK YOU MILO!!! Here is a picture of me getting ready to head to my interview. I have a lot of errands to do for graduation tomorrow so I should probably get started, but I will post a graduation entry this weekend and there are always more posts coming soon!

Hi Everyone!!!
As you can probably guess, today is Milo's Birthday! My little guy would have been 1 YEAR OLD today. I miss him more then anything in this world, but I know that he's with me in spirit. Even though I may shed some tears, talking about him makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. The simple thought of him comforts me nearly as much as he did during our time together. I thank you all for listening to the ramblings of a kitty-less little girl, for supporting me and giving me your lovely comments, and for providing an outlet for my grief. As far as I'm concerned, many of you are like my furr-family. So today, let's celebrate the little (and possibly the only) guy who never let me down, who loved me and comforted me, and who was a complete and utter joy to have around. Mommy loves you Milo!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE SPECIAL LITTLE BOY-KITTY, WHOSE HEART WAS FULL OF LOVE! =^_^=

Hi everyone!!

I know it's been awhile, but as you all know I'm trying to get through my last couple of weeks of school. Today was actually my last day of classes!! YAY!! How momentous. ;D I have two more finals and a presentation to get through and I'm done. Between starting to study, getting ready for this presentation and starting my "moving out" process, I have found myself with a reasonable amount of "free time". Today, during my "free time", I managed to catch an old time classic, Breakfast at Tiffany's. While I do so love Audrey Hepburn and that lovely speaking voice of hers and her amazing style in this movie, I must say that her character is an absolute horror to me at times. It is because of Holly Golightly that I've always had a rather difficult time getting through the entire movie. This time though, it was like watching a completely different movie, because I didn't pay very much attention to the humans at all.......in truth Cat was my primary focus for the whole movie!! I tell you, it was like watching an entirely new movie. I could just imagine what Cat must have thought of his crazy mommy and her strange antics. And I was beyond angry when Holly let him loose and then promptly cried my eyes out (with relief) when she found him in the alley. Thus, I have come to the conclusion that Cat was the real STAR of that movie.

Hi Furriends!!

I know it's been a few days, but honestly, I'm swamped with project presentations lately!! If I can make it through the next three presentations (two next week, one the week after) then I will be home free!! Phewie, I'm soo tired of school. Any who, I hope that you all are doing well. I really miss posting daily and reading your wonderful comments!! Today in my Archaeology class, I was talking to my friend Laura and she told me this funny story about her roommate's cat, White Cat. Apparently, White Cat is very adept at finding his way into the DVDs!!(Here's a pic of White Cat caught in action!!!) Hehe!! Isn't it amazing how cats can just find their way into the craziest spaces? I've read some funny blog posts about some of your kitties and their wacky antics. I have to tell you all something though, while I was talking to Laura I realized that I love talking about Milo. Talking about my baby makes me feel so good and so much better. Almost like he' s still here with me. It's funny how you can get to a certain point after losing someone or something, where you can finally talk openly about that special someone and it doesn't make you feel sad inside. I have to thank all of you for helping me get to this point. Blogging really helped me start the healing process, and making all of these wonderful friends is pretty darn RIGHTEOUS!! (That's a good thing!) You're all so amazing and kind!!

Hi Furr Budddies,

Thanks to everyone who commented on Bootz's first blog entry!!! He told me to tell you all that you really made him feel welcomed, and that he thinks that he likes blogging!! He'll post another blog soon!! I hope you all are doing well. I've been so busy with school that I don't have the time to post and catch up with you all like I'd like too. I don't feel too bad because some of our friends haven't been able to post that much either (due to computer issues and such). Hopefully, we'll all get our lives straight and be able to chat with each other more soon!!! We're down to four weeks left of school!!! I CAN'T WAIT!! I'm so tired and have a serious case of the "-itis", so it's time to get out! The only thing is, I don't know if I'm going to find a job. I've been putting out a couple of resumes, but the market is sooo bad right now. My mom said not to worry about all that so soon. She wants me to take a vacation between graduating and starting to work and doesn't want me to be seriously worried about job-hunting right now. Her advice is sound, but I need to get a job and start making money if I'm ever going to get my own place and...my kitties!!

You see my grandparents live with us, and my grandfather HATES cats! It's horrible!! He didn't say one word to me the entire time I had Milo!! You think I'm kidding? I'M NOT!!! Not...one...word...to....me, until after Milo passed away. To make a long story short, he's had a few strokes and heart attacks so he's not in his right mind. He's hateful really, and even though my family knows that he's sick, he sure makes it hard for everyone (not just me)to be around him. Sorry to get into all of my family drama, but now you see why I must get my own place soon.

I've been thinking though, do you all know people who can't stand cats? One of my best friends doesn't like them either and is afraid of them, and it sucks that she doesn't share my love for them. I can't talk to her abut them like I'd like to, she seizes up at the mere mentioning of the word "cat". Tell me your kitty-hater stories. I'm as curious as a cat about your opinions of kitty-haters.

Bootz: Hey everyone!! Bootz here. So ummmm, I'll be making some special guest appearances on this here bloggyblog every once in awhile. I'm a mancat of few words, thus I prefer to keep my thoughts to myself the majority of the time. The writer of this blog is my Stepmommy, Puddin, and I really like her. As a favor to her, I decided to say hi to everyone. I know that she's been really lonely since she lost Milo and you all really helped her heal and feel better. I think that's really nice. She's graduating from college in a few weeks and thinks that it will be a while longer before she can get a new kitty (or two) and she's a little bummed out about that. So my Dad sends her pictures of me so she can share them with you all. I hope you like them. I'm no kitten but I think I've still got "decuteness". I hope that everyone had a great EASTER!! Puddin did all kinds of cooking with her fam and practically made a baby replica of Thanksgiving dinner!!! Yummmm, I can smell the turkey now. Hi Everyone!!

I've found time to post today!!! Woohoo!!! I'm sitting outside of my Accounting class waiting to go in. I may have mentioned this already but......boy is Accounting the pits. Bleh!! :P Oh well, my grades are improving and I'm almost done. I've come to the conclusion that I must be some sort of weird vampire-girl because all of this Spring weather is getting to me. My nose has turned into a faucet (sorry for the horrible image that may have popped into your head), my eyes and throat are red and itchy and it's about that time for me to start my allergy medicine regime. Also, the sun is just SOOOO bright!! Me not used to it at all. Oh where did my lovely rainy overcast days go?

Any who, today my post is about my step-furrbaby, BOOTZ!!! I have a new picture of him here. Isn't he sooo cute and cool-looking? He may be a little scary when folks come around, but he's a laid-back cool dude. And he's really warming up to me. His daddy told me that he's never warmed up to anyone (not even in the family) like he's warmed up to me. Hehe. That's because I have ultimate kitty essence!! Kitties love me hehe!! The only thing about Bootz is that he's been going to the potty all over the house for a few months now and I'm afraid that something might be wrong with him. His daddy is always away doing Navy stuff, and the other members of the family haven't taken him to the vet. I might have to catnap him and take him myself. That's typically not a good sign when kitties start going to the potty everywhere, right? Hmmm. We'll see what Super-Puddin can do about that!! But I just wanted to let you all know that I really love Bootz and I'm super happy that he's my step-furrbaby!! He is as old as his daddy and mine's relationship!!! Seven full years!!! So he really is a true symbol of love for me!

Spring Break

Hello Furriends!!

Oh how I've missed every single one of you. I've been on Spring Break since last Friday. Praise the Lord!! I needed some serious time away from school. I'm telling you, if I had stayed at VCU for one more second, I probably would have karate-chopped someone in the patootie!! However, my spring break hasn't been as relaxing as one would think it would be. I've been in and out of the hospital and doctor's offices ALL week taking tests, getting things stuck to me and getting gunk put in my head!! It's been horrible because I really dislike the hospital and the doctor's office. It's all because of that seizure!! Just because it's my third year in a row having a seizure does not mean that I have to be poked and prodded for tests for an entire week (My Spring Break Week at that too!). But noooooo, my Mommy is a Momma-Cheetah on a mission to figure out if there is something wrong with her cub. So, she set up all of these appointments while I'm home. Oh well, I shouldn't really be complaining. I'm grateful for what my Mommy is doing, and for what all of the doctors and nurses are doing as well. They're just trying to make sure I'm OK. I'm just grumpy and sleepy and tired of walking around with this Holter Heart Monitor and wires strapped to my body with itchy tape (we're on day three people, and you can't shower with it on). But guess what I found?!?! On my way to the hospital (again), I saw that a Humane Society for the U.S Care Clinic was right up the street from me!! I'm so excited, because they might need volunteers, and I can help! I can help!! Plus they're super close to me, which is good, because I cant drive for six moths now (seizure state law), and no one in my family is exactly clamoring to drive me all the way to Virginia Beach to Hope For Life Rescue. :( I still want to make it out there a few times, and I do miss all of my fur babies a lot. But it's just nice to know that there is a place close by for me to help out too. So I guess something good came out of this seizure testing thing after all!

Well I hope to keep posting more now. We're down to the wire and only about two months left before I'm done with school!!!! Yippee!!! And my kitties will be coming soon after that too!! So as always, more posts SOON!!

PAGEANT DAY!!! : The Results Please! =)

Hi Furriends!!

Boy have I missed you all!!! I've been itching to tell you all about the pageant but I had four midterms and a quiz to get through this week first!! I couldn't do a thing until I at least got through my accounting midterm (which was this morning hehe). Well now I'm finally done and can tell you all about how the pageant went!!!

First of all, it was a WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! I had so much fun and met a lot of really nice girls. Especially my friend Lina!! We bonded from Day 1 (Orientation Day) and just stuck with each other. She wasn't too peppy or "kind of fake", because there were definitely a couple girls who were the stereotypical "pageant girl". She's just really laid back and COOL, and we live right around the corner from each other, so we're definitely going to hang out a lot! There was an Interview portion, Onstage questions, Swimwear portion, Talent portion and Eveningwear portion. For the Interview we had to go into this scary room with five judges staring at us and asking us all kinds of questions individually. I think I did alright on this part but I was kind of nervous, and I got some really strange questions like "What do you think about the Micheal Vick Project (reality TV show)?" or "If 20% of your college tuition was your responsibility, what would you cut to save money?" It was a bit strange, but I survived. I got much easier questions for the Onstage portion and did much much better on those! For Swimwear, I wore a really pretty fuchsia two-piece that had a skirted bottom and a matching flower in my hair. Amazingly, I lost a couple of lbs. and looked pretty good. For my talent, I sang "Memory" from CATS (muhehe, what a coincidence) acapella!! From what I hear, I sounded sooo great, and because I had no background music you could hear my voice super clearly. I know that acapella is hard for most people, but it's actually quite easy for me and I really thrive singing that way. And finally for Eveningwear, I wore a pretty iridescent peacock green dress with sparkly jewelry and peacock feathers in my hair!!! Everyone loved the feathers and said that the color was very unique! ( No one else had the same color, thank goodness!!)

But guess what?!?!?! I won the Miss Chesapeake People's Choice Award!!! Yayy!! That was a huge surprise and sooo amazing because only five people (the judges) pick who Miss Chesapeake is going to be, but everyone who attends the pageant gets to choose who their pick would be........ and they picked ME!!!!!!! I was sooo happy, and a lot of the girls (who have been in pageants for years) said that it was amazing how I got this award on my first pageant. Apparently, most people don't get a thing the first time around. Along with my award, I got a diamond ring from Kay Jewelers!! (No one else got a gift so that's pretty tight.) So that was my fun pageant day!! I really loved it and I think that I might keep competing!! The day was not without it's drama however.........

Last Thursday, the day I left to go home I ended up stubbing my toe pretty bad. I didn't think much of it and went about my day and Friday I went to get my nails done. Well, 1am Saturday morning my toe hurt sooo bad that it was throbbing and I couldn't sleep so I went into my Mommy's room and asked her what I should do. While I was sitting in her chair I started to feel burning hot from the inside. Like a volcano was inside of me! I didn't feel good at all and the next thing I knew, I woke up slumped over in the chair all wet (ewie)! My mom told me later that I had an almost 2-minute seizure (and lost all of my bodily functions), and needless to say, I was whisked off to the hospital. I stayed in the hospital from 2am until almost 7am, and my make-up artist was coming at 7:30am and my Interview was at 9am!! Talk about DRAMA on the day of my pageant. I felt much better before things started though, (minus my sleep deprivation) and continued with everything as planned. I have a string of doctor's appointments lined up so that we can figure out what's going on (this is actually my third year in a row having a seizure). As for my toe, turns out that it had gotten majorly infected (somehow) and I'm on an antibiotic for it now. Don't worry furriends, I'm quite alright!

So that was Pageant Day!! Here are a couple of pictures from the day. My mom unfortunately gave my camera to my little cousin so that she could take pics. Well, turns out that little bratpack didn't take not one picture, so I'm busy trying to collect pics from all of my family and friends that were there. :(

Hi-yo Furriends!!

It's been quite some time since I've been able to post. The school year really picked up and I've been totally swamped. Not to mention we're now three days away from THE PAGEANT!!!! I went to the orientation this past Sunday and it's double the amount of girls that it was last year. That means double the competition. I'm going to do my best and stay positive and I'll make sure to post lots of pics from the event as well. In other news, I got my cap and gown yesterday!!! Soooooo exciting!! I almost got a little teary-eyed because I've worked so hard and now we're a month and a half away from it all!! I'm excited to move back home, get my own pad and get my kitties!!! Then I'll have some REAL kitty adventures to tell you all about. =) I'm still super busy and have tons of stuff to do, but I'm glad that I found some time to update you all!! I'm also still trying to catch up on everyone's happenings!! I miss you all super duper much and can't wait to tell you how the pageant went!!!

Hi Furriends!!

You would not believe how busy I am!!! I have three sticky notes packed with lists of things I need to do for school and the pageant!!! Not to mention, I haven't been able to chat with any of you all and I miss you mucho!! I feel sooo behind. All of these group projects are really starting to get to me. Group projects can be so stressful at times. Have you ever felt like everything is just falling through the cracks? Well that's how I'm feeling right now. If I can just get through this last semester I'll be alright. Long Time...No See!!

Hi Everyone!!

It's been awhile since I've last posted, but I've been devoting most of my time to studying these past few days. I had two tests and two quizzes this week and they weren't easy!!! My Archaeology test was packed with True/False questions, which is horrible!! And I don't think I need to say a thing about Accounting. Bleh!! I had two quizzes for the same teacher (but different classes) and her quizzes are really more like tests. They're QUESTS!!! I'm finally done with it all, but boy am I pooped, and I'm going to be in class until 9:40 tonight. I feel a headache coming on. Hehe. I'll be happy when I can get in my bed and go to sleepypoo.

It's The Year Of The Tiger!!.....And Happy Vday!!

Hi Furriends!!

I hope you all having an exceptionally lovely weekend and a super great Valentine's Day!! Lucky me I got to come home and hang with my family for a bit. We also had some family coming in town as well, so it was good timing. Not only is today Valentine's Day, its also Chinese New Year!! this year is the year of the Tiger!! How fitting for us kitty bloggers, who love and adore our "little tigers" more than anything, eh?

Apparently, the year of the Tiger may be very tumultuous. I read that this year may not be the year to get married (maybe I should change my date hehe), because the year of the Tiger doesn't have a spring. Tons of Asian couples actually rushed to get married before the New Year started. Wowza!! People born under the Monkey sign (the Tiger's opposite) are going to have a difficult year, while those born under the years of the Pig, Snake (YES!!), Rooster and Goat will have a prosperous year. This year is also considered to be an accident-prone year (be careful furriends), but this will also be a time for cooperation and there may also be a boost in financials (More money!! YIPPEE!!) Of course, who knows if any of these predictions will truly come to pass, but I think it's so fun to read about it!!! Hi Furriends!!!

So I've been looking at my blog and I'm feeling kind of bad. My blog is supposed to be about my kitty adventures and I haven't really been talking about kitties lately. I guess this is because I don't have kitties of my own quite yet and I've been so distracted by other things going on in my life right now. But don't worry!!! I'm ready to get back to my kitty roots and talk about the cuddlies. And I CANT WAIT to get some kitties of my very own!!! ^_^ We're down to three months now!!! Yippee!! In the meantime, I'm going to try to find some new and interesting topics to cover about kitties and visit all of my blog furriends and get inspired by their posts. Sometimes, however, I find inspiration in the strangest of places.....

Last Sunday night was kind of a boring night. I was stuck in my dorm room with nothing to do and there was nothing on TV except for the Sound of Music. Now I truly love the Sound of Music. I'm not sure what I would have preferred to watch that night, but I soon got sucked into the "hills" and was warped back to the times my Grammy and I would watch it together (and we should do that again sometime). When Julie Andrews began singing "My Favorite Things", I sang right with her and when we got to the "...whiskers on kittens" part I stopped and thought {awwwwww whiskers on kittens, soooo cute} like a total sucker. Later that night, I mentioned something to the fiance about it and he said that I was an information-sponge monster and that I knew everything about cats. He said that I probably knew how many whiskers a cat has on average.Welllllllllllllllllll I didn't know that, and I resented the information-sponge monster bit too. Although, I couldn't really be mad at him for saying it because as soon as we got off of the phone, I hit the books and net to find out. Muhaha!! Here's what I got:

Cats use whiskers to take in information about their immediate environment. Kitties have whiskers on their muzzles, above their eyes and on the backs of their legs. Facial whiskers are usually about the width of their body and should never be trimmed. Whiskers are highly sensitive and are packed full of sensory nerves that detect surfaces, vibrations and subtle wind currents. Whiskers are also a part of a kitty's body language as well; pulled back means threatened or defensive, whiskers at the sides means relaxed, and whiskers forward means curious or hunting. And how many whiskers does a cat have on average (on their muzzles)? Twenty-four!!! With about 12 per side and arranged in four horizontal rows!!! Hehe I found out!! Now your kitty may or may not have exactly twenty-four. Apparently whiskers fall out and grow back and some kitties are just born with less or more (or none at all; shout out to Spot and Fiona!!) then twenty four. No biggie. Haha!! Take that evil fiance!! Me didn't know and now I do know and you don't. Punk!!! :P

More Snow and a New Look!!!

Hi Everyone!!!

Well school has been canceled again. I woke up this morning to some of the biggest flurries I've ever seen. Hehe. I checked the VCUWeather Alert service before I went out but they hadn't updated it so I assumed that classes were still on and headed to the library (to print some things out) at 7smthing this morning. Well, while I was in the library, eating my oatmeal and stressing over a group essay I was supposed to be printing, I got a VCUAlert text saying classes were closed. About time!!! We're having 40mph winds here, blizzard conditions, a layer of slush and black ice under the snow, no scraped sidewalks and cars sliding across the streets. These are hardly decent walking weather conditions. VCU really should have put that alert out earlier this morning. I feel bad for everyone, including myself, who had already gone out in the weather. Oh well, Im grateful that they did cancel classes at least. Now, I can study

In other news, I've been playing around with the background of my blog. I love my cheetah spots but I was thinking that I could use something a little brighter right now. So you may come by "Kitty Adventures" and see different backgrounds every once in awhile. Don't be surprised. I'd love to hear what your thoughts are as well!

The Kitty Half-Time Show!!!

Hi Furriends!!!

So I found some time before my Accounting class (blarg!!) to blog!! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was relatively laid back. As you've probably already guessed, I do have school today. Yuck!! We didn't get the 10-18 inches everyone said we were going to get. Don't get me wrong, the weather was intense at times but it rained too, so the snow didn't stick and a lot of it turned into slush. I should have spent most of the time resting my back, but I probably didn't rest like I should have. I was dragged to another horrible VCU game where everyone was standing the entire time and the bleachers hurt my bum and back. (Why does everything at this school hurt my bum?) Then I spent the entire day in the library yesterday, trying to get some much needed schoolwork done. I got so caught up in my work that I ended up staying in the library until 8PM!!! Well, now I'm paying for it. My back is screaming at me!! Now I'm not sure if I should start jogging at the gym this week. :( When am I going to learn to take it easy? Thank you everyone for your get-better wishes!! You're the best!!

So I'm sure that many of your TV's were tuned to the Super Bowl last night. I totally didn't know it was Super Bowl weekend. My idea of prime time sports is figure skating and rhythmic gymnastics!!! Hehe. But I did catch the cutest thing I've ever seen!!! The Kitty Half-Time Show!!!! It was on Animal Planet last night during the Puppy Bowl!! Those were some of the cutest kitties I've ever seen. You would have thought that they would have been wigging out a little bit because the environment was probably foreign to them and it was so many of them. However, many of them were just laying around doing what kittens do best. LOOKING CUTE!! And some were playing with the toys. It was super adorable. Way more interesting then any Super Bowl (in my opinion). =)

Sprained Back, More Snow and Skyping With The Boys!!!

Hi-yo Furriends!!

I'm so sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days, but it urns out that I sprained my back in that horrible cycling class I took on Tuesday. (I may have mentioned this class in an earlier post.) Never again will I take Cycling with Disney. It's a class my school offers at our gym that plays Disney music while you're on the stationary bikes. 1. I saw that the instructor was Andrew, and I should have known that it would be THAT Andrew, my co-worker who irritates me beyond words. 2. He wasn't even playing upbeat Disney tunes!!! He was playing things like Mary Poppins and "You Gotta Friend In Me". Not exactly music that pumps you up. 3. The darn seats hurt my bumbum and I fidgeted around on it the whole time , trying to get comfy, but it didn't work. So yes, I sprained my back and have been spread out on my bed for the last day or two. Class is the worse with the seats that make my back scream at me. It's horribly uncomfortable, but I'm starting to feel a lot better.

In other news, I officially turned in my pageant application and sent out emails to my fam so that they can help me raise $100 for the Children's Miracle Network, which is a requirement. Virginia is also getting hit with another snowstorm this weekend. We'll see if I have school on Monday (probably will).

I also got to see my little step-kittyson, Bootz. I haven't talked about him in a bit and I miss him. Being in a military relationship and in school means that Bootz's daddy and I Skype often, and I finally got some pictures of the boys!! Bootz was so good while I snapped pics with the web cam. He really is a sweetie and I can't wait to have a house with him and my new kitties! Oh yea.....and his daddy too. Hehe forgot about him for a sec. Oh well, that's all the updates I have for today. Time to lay back down. Sitting is the worse with my back.

Hi Everyone!!

Thank you everyone for sending me such supportive comments about my pageant endeavors. I'm still frightened out of mind and wonder if I should really do this (is the money worth it?), but I think that it would be good for me. Besides school, not much else is going on. It's been about three weeks since I've been home. That's unusual for me since I try to come home every two weeks, but I find myself missing my kitties at HFLR. I called today to speak with Ms. Pauline to let her know about my pageant platform and how I plan on speaking about my time at HFLR, but she wasn't in. She's going to be there tomorrow though, so maybe then I can talk to her and get some updates. I'd like to hear if any of the dogs or kitties found a forever home. I also checked the website and saw that we got some new furriends. A few young boy kitties and a couple of doggies actually. They all look super cute, so I hope that we can find them homes as well. *sigh* You know, today is just one of those days for me. Cute cuddly animals? Obnoxious college students. Hmmm.......I'd take the cuddlies any day.

SNOW DAY!!!!

Hi Pals!!!

Well a miracle happened today.......a snowy wonderful miracle!!! Last night, my school announced that we would be CLOSED today!!! That was an amazingly considerate thing for my school to do and I enjoyed a lovely day of leisure, food and relaxation. Unfortunately, its back to the books tomorrow, but we are supposedly in for a wintry mix so maybe Wednesday will be another miracle snow day (A girl can dream!).

In other news, I have decided to break out of my box and get over my horrible fear of rejection. I'm a girl of a many talents, and I have passed up many opportunities over the years due to my rejection complex. I'd like to conquer this fear, and in doing so, I've applied to be in the Miss Chesapeake (my hometown) Pageant!!! I don't want to spend my life thinking "Woulda, Shoulda, Coulda...". I already feel that way about a few things and I'm quite young for that. Every bone in my body is saying "no,no,no,no,no,no,no..." and I'm already very scared but I think I'm going to do it anyway. It would be a good experience for me. But guess what my platform is?!?! Animal Welfare: Helping Those Who Can Not Help Themselves!!! (Is that too long?) I know none of you are surprised. It is a subject near and dear to my heart. My Mommy assured me that it was unique and different, and she's right. No one else picked a cause like this (I know, I checked hehe). But I'm just happy to bring attention to all of the animals in our community who need help. =) So we'll see what happens. The deadline to apply is Feb. 15th and I'm a little stressed about getting everything together in time, so wish me luck!!

Snowed In For The Weekend!!

Hi Furriends!!!

It's been about a day or two since I've posted and I'm so happy that I've finally gotten some time to post!! Posting just really brightens my day and I am so squirly when I don't get a chance to do it. But guess what? A lot has happened in these last two days, about fourteen inches of "happenings" to be exact. Hehe. The Richmond and Tidewater areas of Virginia got hit by a snowstorm this weekend. So I was marooned in my dorm the whole time. I was going to post yesterday but my friend dragged me to the homecoming basketball game across the street (I didn't even know it was Homecoming, and I worked at the gym and live across the street from it; you see how anti I am) and that took up the entire evening. I hadn't been to a game since my freshman year and this is probably the last one I'll go to before I graduate haha!! I'm not super into sports plus I think that the students here have bad manners and sportsmanship. They boo guest teams and yell mean things to the players when they get introduced. How rude!! I get so embarrassed by them.

But this morning I woke up and decided to have a little private photo-op in the courtyard of my dorm (things don't get going around here until 2pm!! hehe!). Hello Kitty wanted to come too, so I brought her along as well. I'm going to be doing homework for the rest of the day, and preparing for the week ahead. The lucky grade school kids will probably get a snow day, but college students just can't catch a break. That's what happens when you get old. =)

Hello everyone!!

Another busy day for Puddin. I'm stuck in the business building of my school right now.....and I have to stay here until 9:40pm!!!! At least while I'm waiting for class I can devote some time to my blog. Now that school is back in session I'm having a harder time getting to everyone's blogs and now I'm posting every other day and I really HATE that. I enjoy being responsive and seeing what's going on with everyone. Now I feel out of the loop. To Adopt? Or Not To Adopt?

Hi Everyone!!

Like I said the other day, college semesters DEFINATELY have a knack for picking up the pace very fast. I had four major assignments due in two days. I'm turning in the last bit tomorrow and I'm still not technically done with it. School is so not fun....and I'm sooo ready to graduate. I have to stay focused and motivated if I want to have that pretty different-colored tassel and sash!! I CAN DO IT!!! YES I CAN!! Phewie...ok.

In other news, I'd like to welcome some new furriends of mine!! Hi Noll's Nip and Noir the Texas Tabby!! I know that I've had conversations with both of you but I'm just glad that you like my blog and like to stop by. Thank you very much!! I can't wait to get to know you both more!!! Also, I'd like to give a very special thank you to Amy and the House Cats!!! They gave me a very special award. I'm not sure what it is yet (it will be posted tomorrow), but I'm super-excited to see what it is and I'm super honored!! Thank you, in advance, to Amy and the House Cats!!

Despite my very busy schedule, I have had a chance to ponder over a feline-related topic. After all of this reading I've been doing alot of reading about cats and different breeds I must say that I've been very tempted to get my new kitties from a breeder. I feel like I'm admitting a terrible dark secret, but I do feel badly for thinking this. Some of the breeds are just so interesting or pretty (kind of shallow of me) or have the exact characteristics that I'd like to see in my kitties. It would be so easy to go to a breeder and have everything you're looking for right there! On the other hand, kitties who are up for adoption do really need homes (and I'm so committed to the cause; and that's where I got Milo from) and whose to say that a kitty from a shelter isn't what I'm looking for? I know that I've personally fallen in love with many of the cats at HFLR. I think that maybe my real problem is that I'm scared. I'm afraid that maybe I won't find a kitty like Milo. He was just special. Will another kitty be able to capture my heart? Maybe. Probably. We'll see. The big picture is that whether we get our kitties from a breeder or adopt our kitties, they're all special and unique and our bestest furriends!! Giving a pet a loving forever home is one of the most fulfilling things a person can do I think!! So cheers to all of the kitty- and doggy-mommies and daddies out there!!! I feel much better now that I've gotten that off of my chest.

I've Been Thinking.....

Hello FurrBuddies!!

Sorry I haven't posted in a bit. I'm acclimating back to school life and re-teaching myself the incredible time-management skills I seemed to have lost over my holiday break. The last few days have been kind of grey drizzly and cold here in Richmond so I spent my weekend INDOORS!! The good thing is that the Hubby2Be came to visit me, so we spent the entire time watching movies and stuffing our faces with all kinds of horribly fattening and unhealthy num-nums. Another good thing is that I actually don't have classes on Mondays, so it's an extra day I get to catch up on assignments and other important things. Other than that, not much else is going on with me. YET!! (College semesters have the unusual characteristic of picking up very fast when it comes to assignments , projects and things of that nature.)

I have been thinking about some of our furriends who have lost pets or have pets who have fallen ill, and I think it would be so nice to send them care packages that might brighten their day and lift their spirits or give them a sense of hope. I think that would be so nice. Maybe I'll start a little non-profit thing where people can send me the info of those who have come on hard times with a pet and may need some support. Then I can send them a care package made with love. (Wow I sounded like a Care Bear for a minute there.) That might be another nice little project to work on when I finish school. What do you all think? I'm quite open to thoughts and suggestions! =)

Shrimp Fried Rice and Kitty Poo!!

Hi Furriends!!!

I'm glad to have a new post for you all today!! I took a day off so that I could let my award marinate for a minute, and give all of my friends a chance to see it. Hehe. I'm still pretty excited about it as you can see. I've been wanting to tell you all this ]strange and perhaps funny story that happened to me last Saturday after I was done volunteering at HFLR, but so much other stuff has been going on this week that I decided to hold off on it for a bit. But now I'm ready to divulge my strange tale (or tail) Here goes....

My Mom picked me up from HFLR when I was done volunteering and mentioned that she was hungry. After hours of running after kitties, scooping litter boxes and any other task you can think of relating to taking care of our furry friends I was quite hungry as well. My Mommy and I love Thai food so we decided to go to this nice little restaurant in the Ghent section of Downtown Norfolk, VA (very Soho bohemianish artsy kind of place) called Bangkok Garden. It was my first time going and I found that I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and I ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice (nothing to heavy, I'm watching my figure) spicy of course. Well, my Mommy and I are sitting there trying to eat our food and have girl talk, but these two women sitting behind us are talking SOOOO LOUDLY!! It's a very small building and there were only about eight or ten people in there. It was pretty quiet and here we were hearing their entire conversation!! Has that ever happened to you? People just talking so loudly that you know all of their business and stuff you don't want to hear....I mean it was ridiculous how loud these two were. And what made it even worse was that they were talking about KITTY POOP!! Yea that's not so appetizing when you're trying to eat your fried rice and drunken noodles, K. One of ladies was talking about how her friend was pregnant......and how her cat was sick and how the vet had told her that whatever the kitty had could only be transferred through contact with old feces.....and who would leave kitty feces around long enough for it be old....and now they didn't want her pregger friend to go near the cat...and now they don't know what to do with the cat.....and blah blah blah blah blah (with many minutes devoted to kitty poo characteristics). As you can see, I know an awful lot about this pregnant lady and her sick cat (I do feel bad for the kitty though). That is how loud they were talking. It was very strange and needless to say, my Mother and I and the whole rest of the restaurant (I'm sure) were happy to see them go.

New Semester, New Book!!!!

Good Morning Friends!!!!

I've been up since 5am starting the first day of my Spring semester. I decided over the holidays that I was going to start working out so that's what I did this morning and boy am I out of shape. I've been a ballet/lyrical/ballroom dancer for 13 years, but I've been on hiatus since I've been in school. Needless to say I've gained like 10lbs and I've lost some of my endurance. I had to take a breather during a 50min workout!! That's a little bit sad for a 20 year old. Anywho, I've been up and about since then and now I'm sitting in my first class of the day, History of Archeology (waiting for it to start). I hope the rest of my day goes well.

In kitty news! I wanted to show you all my new book!! This is like the fourth book I've showed you all. It's official, I am a certified nerd. Hehe. :) It's called "The Cat's Pajamas: 101 Of The World's Cutest Cats" by Rachael Hale. She is a celebrated photographer who works especially well with animals, so many of you may know of her. The book is absolutely adorable. I love the pink color, and she's right, these are some of the cutest kitties I've ever seen. The book isn't just pictures though, it has a lot of information pertaining to each breed too!! I can't wait to get into it, but I have to wait until I finish my 3rd kitty book.

Hi Everyone!

I'm finally back in Richmond. Sorry I'm posting kind late again. I traveled all day and got into Richmond around 3pm and then I rearranged my entire room and unpacked. Needless to say, that took all day long. I'm a little sad to be back because I miss my family and will miss volunteering, but I am ready to get my semester started. It's also kind of nice to have all of my make-up, jewelry and digital camera. I left all of these things at school when I came home for the holidays!!! So many of the pictures on this blog were actually taken with my cellphone! I've been really roughing it for the past two months!! I don't wear a lot of makeup, but not having it just in case is horrible!!So being back in Richmond isn't all that bad. Tomorrow is the first day of the spring semester so wish me luck. I hope the day goes by fast! :) Well, I need to turn in early tonight. My day is going to start pretty early.

Hello Buddies!

Sorry I'm posting kind of late but I've spent the entire day at HFLR!! It's been a few days since I was last there so a lot has happened since I left. I'm going to give you all a quick update on some of the animals I've been talking about. If you remember, two older doggies in need of some medical attention came into the center the last time I was there. Well they are doing much better!! Mabel and Molly look so much healthier and have so much personality. Molly has even gotten adopted!! That's super wonderful because it's hard for senior dogs to get adopted most of the time. But she really is a sweetie and has these big gorgeous eyes so I'm glad that someone fell in love with her and is giving her a forever home. I have no doubt that Mabel will be next! My little CiCi (the little kitty I mentioned a day or two ago) also found a forever home! I'm so happy because I wanted to adopt her myself but the timing just isn't right, but I hoped that she would find a home with someone who loved her just as much as I did, and that's just what happened!!! All of the kittens in my HFLR pics got adopted, except for the little dark fluffy one. Her name was Promise and she actually was adopted, but we found out today that she had a birth defect and I think she had to go to the bridge. :( So sad. I thought she was a little sleepier then the other kittens and wondered if she was okay. But it's alright, she's in a much better place now...and so are the other kittens who have found forever homes. Also, the December 20th kittens are getting big and starting to play! I think all of them have also been adopted, but parents have to wait a certain number of weeks before they can take them home. Also, the respiratory infection that swept through the center has diminished!! There are still a couple of sneezes here and there but everyone is much much better! Your purrs and prayers worked!! Thank you very much!! :)

As usual, I spent my time cleaning and scooping litter boxes and giving the kitties some special attention. It's hard work, but I enjoy it very much!!! The center is like a little community. You get to know all of the cats and their personalities, and you're happy when you come back and see that some of them have found homes and people that love them!! All in all, I can't wait to go back!! :D

These tubes are part of the new kitty catwalks that HFLR installed recently. As you can see, the cats really enjoy them. A lot of the times, there were as many as seven kitties in this corner.

The lighting is a little wonky, but this kitty was sooo comfy in her little bed.

Not one person knew what this guy's name was (he's new) but he was very comfortable on top of these newspapers. He had a sweet disposition as well.

"I was asleep....then I woke up." (I didn't wake him..honest! I came back and took the second pic laterz. Hehe. )

I was surprised this little guy stayed and modeled for me!! He was very active.

This little girl was new to me, so I didn't know her name. But isn't she cute?! And she was sooo sweet too. She scared the booboo out of me when she came out of the cabinet under the sink....while I was washing my hands!! :0

This is the mancat that lives on the inspection counter. He's kind of shy and doesn't really get down from the counter and interact with the other kitties. But he is my ultimate bud (I do a lot of work back here) and always up for a little rub.

This is Teaser, he was born blind in one eye, it makes him look like he has odd-colored eyes (I think that's pretty). He's usually one of my rub-buddies that follows me around, but he was ultra-sleepy today and stayed in his bed the whole time I was there. I hope he was feeling okay. :(

Another newbie....I didn't know this girl's name either but she was very friendly and quite vocal (some of the longest meows I've ever heard) when she needed some attention. Sorry the pic is kind of blurry, but I did manage to catch some great eye action!

So those were some of my babies at the center!! We had some familiar friends and some new ones this time. I hope every single one of them finds a loving forever home. I hope to volunteer at HFLR every weekend that I'm home, that is about every two weeks or so. I don't know if I can wait that long though. So much happened between today and the last time I was there (a couple of days)!! I hope you all enjoy the pictures!! :D

The Last Friday of My Break!!

Hi Friends!!!

I decided to enjoy the last Friday of my break chillaxing at home today. I need my rest between a day full of gregarious kids and a day helping animals in need (tomorrow). I'm going back to Hope For Life Rescue tomorrow and Sunday!! I want to get my last little bit of volunteering in before I go back to school. Hopefully, I'll get lots of cute pictures to post so you all can see how lovely all of my furr babies at the center are. I'd also like to say hi to my new furriend, Noll's Nip!! Thanx for stopping by my blog and becoming my new friend! I can't wait to get to know you a little bit better. :)

Interesting Fact of the Day: My "Legacy of the Cat" book has an extensive chapter on cat genetics, and this chapter it was stated that there is really no such thing as a "purebred" cat. Hmmm isn't that interesting? What a thought-provoking notion.....

I hope everyone has a super great fantastic day and I will keep you updated on my HFLR visit tomorrow (with pics!!). And thank you everyone for letting me know that climbing on blinds and other things is, in fact, quite normal for cats. I feel much better now. :)

Up the Blinds!!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm spending another day with my mommy at her school full of little bad kids! Hehe! I know, I'm terrible. At twenty years of age, I truly have no patience for the younger crowd. Especially the ones who ask a TON of questions and start raising their hands before you can even finish giving instructions! I have MUCH respect for all of the teachers out there, they should be getting paid very very very well. :) The day is almost over for my mom and I, though, only two more classes to go and we're home free!!

So last night, my uncle came into my room and asked me what was wrong with my blinds. I told him that Milo had climbed all the way to the top and had broken off the front piece one night. He really was a little monkey of a cat. So I began to think about all of the times I caught him up there (my heart darn near close to stopping). My blinds are the wooden kind (many of you probably have the same kind in your homes). They look very nice and are quite sturdy. I guess this characteristic makes for great climbing apparatuses for kitties. Do any of your cats climb up the blinds and curtains? Is that normal? Or even safe? Because Milo was my first cat, so I was unclear as to whether or not the things he did were normal or not. I guess you could say that I was a worried helicopter mommy! B. always told me that he'd be okay if he had a little tumble ( I didn't believe him). One time he did fall and I was so frightened that I scooped him up and held him the rest of the night. Hehe. In the mean time, however, I would like to know if this is normal kitty behaviour for my future kitties.

Another Reason to Stay Home!!

Hi Friends!!

If you've been reading the last few posts you all will know that I've been dreading going back to school. It's not that I don't like school (I adore it in fact), it's just that I don't really like Richmond. Well, I decided to see if there were any animal welfare groups or clubs on campus so that I may be able to continue with my volunteer efforts during the semester. To my surprise, however, there don't seem to be any!!! VCU is the largest public university in Virginia with an abundance of eclectic cause-oriented students (even vegetarians and tree-huggers), and you mean to tell me that we don't have an animal welfare group!?!?!?! That just doesn't seem right to me, so I'm going to call the student activity office and double check and see if maybe I missed something. I'll update you guys on that. And then I was looking up shelters that I may be able to volunteer at, and there really aren't that many in the area. This was also a great disappointment because Richmond is a big nasty city and I'm sure you all can imagine the things that happen to stray animals (especially in the city!!) and how much help they need. I may be wrong but I would think that there would be more shelters in a city then in the suburbs. Hmmm. Well, I think I'll spend the rest of the day checking things out online.

*Update: Well, its true. My school doesn't have an animal welfare group. I should start one, however, I'm graduating in four months. Trust me when I say I'm not coming back to VCU and I have to stay extremely focused so that I can graduate cum laude. I'm not sure if I could manage an entire animal welfare club, and then what would they do without me around? So what should I do? And thank you so much Amy and The Cats! You're right, there are a couple of animal shelters in the area like the SPCA. These are good places for me to start looking for more info!

A Great Volunteering Idea!!!

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I didn't post yesterday! The day went by so fast, and an interesting topic hadn't crossed my mind and I never want to have boring posts. But guess where I'm at? I'm at the school my mom substitute teaches at. OMG these kids are B.A.D!! I've been stuck in my house almost my entire holiday break so I decided to go with my mom today and help her out. Let me tell you something, I hope none of your kids are as bad as these kids here. That's why I do cats, ok. And when I do have some kids, I'm doing homeschooling!! Some of the teachers are just as bad as the kids, believe it or not. So I'm here until this evening.

But I must tell you all about my wonderful idea!!! I think that I'd like to have a bake sale with all proceeds going to the Hope For Life Rescue Center at one of the pet stores that sponsors them. This pet store is HUGE and on a Saturday it is packed like a mall. So I think that I could get a good bit of money for the center. As you all know, I am a major baker so I will definitely be making tons of sweet treats for the patrons of this pet store. But get this! I found a whole bunch of pet treat recipes that were all natural! So I'm going to sell treats for the animals too!! Muhahaha! Do you all think that's a good idea? (Thanks Mommy hehe) I'm going to double check all of the recipes and make sure that all of the ingredients are safe, maybe get them approved by a vet or Ms. Pauline (owner of HFLR). I may also make a test batch and see if some of the kitties and doggies at HFLR like them. (Cuz you know cat's can be especially fickle) So, what do you all think? Good idea? What about the pet treats? Do you think owners may be kind of iffy about buying them and giving them to their pets? I could always make little ingredient labels and put them on the treat bags. I'm extremely open to thoughts or suggestions! :)

A Chill Sunday!

Hi Everyone!

I think today is going to be another day indoors. I had to put my post up early because my Mommy is commandeering the computer for the rest of the day. By the way, she feels much better!!!! We think it really was a 24-hour virus or some other nasty bug making her sick. But I'm just glad she's over it and feeling well. I'll probably spend the rest of the day snuggled up in bed reading my kitty books. All of this research has got me thinking about a really important topic when it comes to our feline friends! What should I feed my kittens when they get here? I fed Milo a mixture of his kitten food from the HFLR center (so the food change wouldn't be too shocking to his tummy) and Good Life Kitty food. Both were dry. After doing some research, I'm not sure if I want to continue with an all-dry food diet. I just want my kitties to be as healthy as possible. What do you all feed your kitties?

*I've posted some pictures of my boys. There's Bootz at the top of the stairs peeking at me, and there's my Milo sleeping in one of his favorite spots. (The positions he used to fall asleep in amazed me sometimes.)

A Little This + A Little That= My Cat!!

Hi Everyone!

We've all made it to another Saturday! Yippee! Here in VA it's pretty bright and shiny outside, although I hear it's also pretty cold. I don't know if I'm actually going to be heading outside today. To be honest, I'm content to spend my time indoors and online shopping. Besides, I stayed up all night to watch over my Mommy. We think that she got a 24-hour tummy virus from one of those kids she works with at school. (Hundreds of little grimy hands= viral plague! Bleh!) Sorry but I think I'd take ringworm from one of my little HFLR babies any day! I've had it so many times in my kid and early teen years that it doesn't even bother me anymore. Just put some ointment on it at night and it'll go away. ( I guess that's still pretty gross though. Hehe.) Anyway, so my point is being inside today wouldn't bother me at all!

I've been watching CATS 101 since the first episode aired (and I watch the reruns whenever they come on too) and I've become quite interested in all of these different breeds that I was completely oblivious to. I really love that show, and not surprisingly, a lot of you all do too! So yesterday, I mentioned that today I may talk about what I think Milo's lineage may have been. I also asked you all what you thought your kitties' genus might be. Well of course, those of you who got your kitties from a breeder know exactly what breed your cats are. But for those of us who got our kitties from other places, it can be rather interesting to try to figure it out (even though we may never be correct). A lot of you said that your kitties were probably a mix of things or that you you really just didn't know! Some of you distinguished a certain characteristic about your kitty like Peaches (SiamesePeaches) maybe being a Siamese mix of some sort or Amy's Floyd being part Maine Coon! Truth be told, we may never know what makes up our lovely furry friends, the gene pool of a cat can be nearly impossible to figure out! All we know, is that we love them, and they love us. And quite frankly, that's all that really matters. Can I get a PURR!?!

Well after watching an episode of Cats 101 featuring the Egyptian Mau, I noticed that these kitties really favored my Milo. Those big mascaraed eyes full of expression, the spotted fur, body shape and level of activity all were so similar to my Milo I began to think"Well maybe Milo is part Mau...". Now don't get me wrong, I'm no professional and I'm probably not right. It's just fun to try to piece it all together, like a puzzle. But hey, take a look at the picture of Milo on top and the picture of an Egyptian Mau kitten (from www.omania2.net) on the bottom and tell me what you think.

More Kitty Books and Friends!!

Hi Furr Buddies!!

I hope everyone is having a lovely day today. My day actually started pretty early because I chose to accompany my Grammy to her doctor's appointment. Ironically, she had to get a CAT scan just to see how her brain is doing now that she's a little bit older. For now, she's fine. We just want to make sure she's okay! Preventative measures are important. :)

Last night, I went on a dinner date with my honey which proved to be quite successful but I've been doing a lot of research on cats lately and you all know that I've fallen in love with volunteering and so I started talking about that and B. was looking at me like I was crazy! Once I become interested in something I can be very passionate. I really am a complete nerd in that once a have a new subject in mind, I read and read and read and read up on it. So after dinner B. offered to take me to Barnes&Noble (my heavenly place) and I went crazy over a section of feline-related books on sale. I'm talking really good (and big) books peeps! And it turns out that all of my research has paid off because interesting kitty facts started flying from my mouth and B. was like "I've created a monster..". I'm telling you, he really was looking at me like I was CRAZY! Actually, I think my whole family is thinking that I'm crazy right now. But I can't explain what has come over me. I mean I've always loved animals, but I think that that love was intensified by having my own pet. And then those feelings were intensified by losing him. I feel so much closer to Milo when I'm helping or learning about our furry friends. So I don't care if people think I'm kitty crazy! I'm going to keep helping animals in need and absorbing all of the information I can about them. Besides, I have all of you wonderful furr buddies to discuss my findings with. And I thank all of you for that. You all ROCK!!

So I bought two new kitty books (amongst many other books mind you) and I can't wait to really start getting into them. (I have to finish the Cat Lover's Companion first hehe.) The first one is called "The Ultimate Guide to Cats" by Frith-Macdonald and the second one is "Legacy of the Cat" by Stephens. So far, both seem to be overall guides to cats and both have specific breed information. Both also have very lovely pictures of all kinds of cats so I can't wait to dig into them!!

But I would also like to say hello to some new furr buddies of mine! Hello Amy +the House Cats (I've said hello to you through comments but I'm officially saying hi doll; you're just so sweet), GoGirly +Katie, Mickey Georgia +Tillie, Jan's Funny Farm and Siamese Peaches!!I'm checking out all of your blogs and I can't wait to get to know you all better! I love making new friends!

More posts tomorrow!! I think I'm going to try to talk about what breed of kitty I think Milo was. Do you know what breed your kitties are? It can be hard to tell if you don't get them from a breeder sometimes.

The Pet Store!!!

Hello everyone,

Another day relaxing in my room! I must say that I am enjoying my break from school. The bad thing is I'm going to have to go back soon. Bleh!! I don't know if I'm ready to go back to Richmond (VA), but I will be happy to get my final semester over with. And then I can come home....and STAY! Hehe. For my post today, I thought that I might talk about something that has really been bothering me lately. The PET STORE!! I'm not talking about your average pet store. I'm thinking about the pet store in the mall that my fiance and I frequent often. In this pet store, they sell puppies and I feel a little bit worse every time I go in there because all of the puppies are in cages and I just have a bad feeling about them. A lot of them seem listless and some of them look like they're going crazy in their cages. I often wonder where they get the puppies from. Maybe evil puppy mills! My mommy had a lot of puppies when she was younger and she told me that every puppy she got from the pet store had something wrong with it and was "loony tunes" in the head. Now maybe I've watched a little too much "Harriet the Spy" over the years (I've always been kind of suspicious and investigative), but I just don't feel right about this pet store and I don't think that I will be purchasing very much from them in the future.

In other news, I'd like to say hi to my new furry friend AbbyManx!! Thank you for stopping by my blog and becoming my new friend!! I can't wait to chat with you and get to know you better!

Interesting Kitty Products

Hi Everyone!

I'm having a pretty laid back day today relaxing at home. After my day at HFLR yesterday, I certainly need the rest. My blog is kinda strange though, I wanted the actual entry on my volunteering to come before the pics but it ended up coming after!! Computers do strange things sometimes, but I hope everyone saw that extra post hehe. Today, I'm just going to lay around and read my new kitty book. So far its very interesting and it's titled, Cat Lover's Daily Companion: 365 Days of Insight and Guidance for Living a Joyful Life with Your Cat (by Hampshire, Bass + Paximadis). Phewie!! That's a long title isn't it. You're supposed to read an entry per day and it will last you all year (although that's not what I'm doing). It's full of all sorts of interesting bits of info on cats and tips and profiles on breeds. Its not boring at all, either, with very casual language. Sort of like you're talking to a friend. I'm really enjoying it.

I came across another interesting product as well called You Bake Em' Cat Treats!! Now I'm a very serious baker so imagine my excitement over stumbling across this quirky product. Baking + Kitties = Happy Puddin!!! So I think I'm going to buy it, and bake the treats for when I bring my new kitties home. That would be a good idea, don't you think? Sort of like a "Welcome to your new home" present!!

Everyone who comes to the center wants to adopt this Kitty! But the vet says she's "special" and despite her extremely good looks she's always brought back. It's okay though, she'll just be a HFLR kitty forever!

Three of the four new kittens! They came from a colony and are being isolated (to keep them from getting that nasty infection going around). They all already have homes waiting for them. YAY!!

Another Day at Hope For Life Rescue!!

Hi friends!!

I had another great day at the Hope For Life Rescue Center!! And this time I was able to take a whole bunch of pics for you guys!! I was able to stay for most of the day too, but boy am I tired. An upper respiratory infection is spreading through the center (it is a free-roaming shelter and difficult to isolate the sick kitties because all of the isolation/kitten rooms are full with mommies and their babies) so many of the kitties were sleeping and not eating pooping or making messes a lot. So with that in mind, their wasn't much for me to do in that arena. But we did get two new senior beagles (who look like they've been through the ringer) who are up for adoption. Poor girls, they both seemed so neglected and I'm sure that they both have some medical issues going on. :( It also seemed that eye infections and ringworm (had to make sure I took a good shower) were rather prevalent as well. Poor babies. So many of them come from colonies off of the street (or just straight up off of the street) so they're liable to have any number of issues. And then Ms. Pauline brings them into the shelter (she will never turn an animal away she's so sweet) and many of the other kitties catch whatever the new kitty has. That free-roaming thing make this shelter so awesome to me but it can work for and against you sometimes I guess. So let us send our purrs and prayers to all of the kitties at HFLR and hope they all get better. Despite the lack of messes and litters to clean, I was still busy doing laundry and tending to the new dogs and walking the neighboring business's dogs. There was also a rather intense cat fight to break up (testy girlkitty named Peru who has since been isolated) and kitty nails to clip. So all in all, I had a pretty productive day and look forward to going back but right now....I could use a nappy poo. More posting tomorrow! XOXO

No Kitties= A Tad Lonely

Hi everyone,

I apologize for my last post being...well...so sad. but I thought that it was important to tell Milo's story and to tie that in with Spot + Fiona's ordeal. I must admit that I am a little depressed because I don't have a kitty of my own right now. Because I felt so guilty for not always being home with Milo, I said that I would wait until I graduated before I got a new kitty. And then I would get two, so they wouldn't be alone. But that's four months away from now. And it seems like such a long time. I went with my honey to get some cat treats for Bootz last night and I was starting to feel a little sad and jealous. I used to love walking through the pet section buying up toys and treats for Milo. I told B. that he was so lucky to have Bootz. And really everyone who has their fur-baby is. Everyone says that getting a new cat helps to heal a broken heart after the loss of one kitty. Too bad I have to wait. But I must say that this blog and all of my new furry friends are helping me soooo much. I'll tell you what's not helping though, those Humane Society and ASPCA commercials! Too too heart-wrenching they are, but IHaveCat said that it's sometimes so easy to "bury one's head" to what's really going on. And she's right. These commercials are on air for a reason. SAVE OUR FURRY FRIENDS!!! In other news, Hope for Life Rescue got four new kittens!!! Just my luck right? I could give two a forever home, but alas it's not quite the rite time. They are so cute though and two even look like Milo a little bit. I hope that they find great homes, and I'll probably see them when I go volunteer tomorrow! That's pretty exciting. And maybe the December 20th kittens will be moving around a bit more tomorrow as well.

Spot + Fiona and My Little Milo

Hi everyone!

So I've been making my rounds to all of the blogs of my new friends and I must say that it is so nice to have fresh material to read everyday. ( I'm a hardcore reader whose read any and everything with words in the vicinity) However, I was saddened by what I read at my first follower, Harry Spotter's blog (entitled Spot + Fiona). Two kitties welcomed into a home with degenerative diseases. I could feel the anger and sadness welling up inside of me as I read each of the recent posts. This subject is very close to my heart, because I adopted my own kitty Milo only to find out at his kitten check-up that he had a Category 4 heart murmur due to a congenitally enlarged heart. It's bad enough that it happened to me, but it's even worse to think that it happens to other people.

Harry Spotter mentioned that if the vet had paid more attention or maybe even cared more, that Fiona's condition may have been detected earlier and the same was true for Milo's condition. If you held Milo, you could easily feel his heart (so big and pounding so loudly) in his chest. My vet told me that the vets who neutered him for HFLR would have definitely felt such a large heart murmur and should have said something. I'm in college, working a work/study job and from a single parent home. We couldn't afford to pay for all of the x-rays and medicines and surgeries that the doctors were recommending. Ms. Pauline (owner of HLFR) told me that she has had experience with these type of situations and that usually congenital conditions can't be fixed or cured. Sure you can give your cat medicine, but it doesn't change the inevitable. She said that kitties with these types of health probs could live for years or weeks, it's just our job to love them as best we can and make their days happy.

I was hopeful that he would be okay. He was so strong and fast, playful and lively. It was hard to imagine that he wasn't okay inside. But on September 24th 2009, I got the call from my mom telling me that he had passed away sleeping on my bed. I was at school, and to this day I feel so guilty for having gotten him while I was in school. For not being able to be there for him as much as I could have.

So in conclusion friends, lets send our purrs and prayers to Spot + Fiona. Harry Spotter is doing such a wonderful job loving them and taking care of them. We must support them and back them up always. Here is a link to Harry Spotter's site : Spot + Fiona.

Hi Fur Friends!!

I'm a little upset because I haven't been able to post new entries until late in the evening! This is totally not my style and I don't like it at all! Most of you are probably asleep right now or have turned the lappys and puters off by now and it makes me feel bad. To be honest, my day doesn't feel that great unless I know that I've posted something new early enough for you all to see and react to. My interaction with you all really does make my day!! So tomorrow, I'm posting nice and early and we're going to talk about Spot + Fiona, my depression over not having a kitty of my own right now, the new kittens at HFLR and that so so so sad Humane Society commercial I just saw. {Eyes welling up, tears falling} On the bright side, let us greet my new friends IHaveCat, Mimi and Ginger Jasper!!! ASPCA Commercials and Sushi!

Hi everyone,

I hope all of you have enjoyed your Saturday. My mother and I decided that today would be a day filled with leisure and we went to go get our nails done and eat at our favorite Japanese restaurant called Koi Sushi. The pedicure was really nice and I picked out this lovely color that I've completely fallen in love with. The food at Koi Sushi was delicious as well. Get this though, while I was sitting there looking at the menu I came across some interesting potential names for my kitties. I'm not sure if I should reveal them yet however, you never know what to name your kitty until you meet them and see their personality. We'll just have to wait and see!!! :) I caught an ASPCA commercial on TV today. To be honest, I catch them all the time and they make me sooo sad. Is it just me hehe?I darn near break down into tears every time I see one. Those poor animals. The ASPCA really got their message across in those commercials. That's why I can't wait to get back to HFLR! Happy to get back to the kitties and give them some help. Maybe I will get to them tomorrow or Monday. Hi Lovelies!

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVERYONE!! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve and rang in 2010 surrounded by those you love the most! My New Year's was well.......eventful to say the least. Hehe. Nonetheless, I am very thankful for surviving 2009 and I am excited to see what 2010 adventures (kitty and non-kitty alike) may come my way. Surprisingly, the most exciting bit of my night was seeing my furry little step-baby. Now I love my fiance's cat Bootz, but he has always been rather shy and flighty. Slowly but surely he's been warming up to me. I think it all started after B. left for Great Lakes last year (he's a Navy Boy). Every time I would go to his house Bootz would come around me for a minute or two. I think he started associating me with his daddy and hoped that if I was there B. was there too! Anywho, last night Bootz came to me on the steps and let me have a little photo shoot with him!! He really is a sweetie and last night he looked at me the way Milo used to look at me. So intelligent and almost spiritual kitties are. But guess what!?! I have three more followers! I think your advice really is helping Harry Spotter! Say hello to Margaret Elmendorf, Keiko + Luna T. Katt and Brian!!! Its exciting to know that someone is interested in what's going on in your life. This blog really is a type of therapy for me. I always feel so much better after posting and reading the comments. So thank you all so much for stopping by my blog and I am so happy to have new friends!

Hi everyone!

Happy New Year's Eve! I'm ready to usher in the New Year with my family, fun, drinks (strictly sparkling cider hehe) and maybe a kiss from my honey! But guess what?! I have two new followers to introduce everyone to! Wait, I don't want to call my followers "followers", they're really more like friends! New Year, New Friends! My new friends' names are Momsbusy and The Island Cats! They both have lovely blogs that I've visited and will be posting in my favorite links list! Thank you Momsbusy and The Island Cats for reading my blog! It really means a lot to me and I can't wait to introduce my new kitties to you when I get them. Hi everyone!!

So we're getting down to the last day of 2009 at midnight tonight! I'm so excited for what 2010 may bring. (Two new kitties I hope!) But I have to say that something really important has happened today! I have two followers on my blog!!!!! AHHH!! That is so exciting! Now granted, one of them is my mommy but that's just fine! She's always supporting me! That's a given. ;) But the other follower is named Harry Spotter!! And I just have to say that you are the first real follower I've ever had! I've tried to start blogs before and even though I'm sure that they were pretty interesting blogs, I just couldn't get anyone to visit them. So thank you so much Harry Spotter!! This really means a lot to me! :) My kitty changed my life (in ways that I couldn't even imagine) and I'm really devoted to this subject. So even if I just have one follower (my mom), I'm going to make sure that I keep on posting!

Volunteering at Hope For Life Rescue!

Hi everyone!

So my volunteering today went very well! I LOVE HFLR ( Hope for Life Rescue)! they are such good nice people and they try to do everything that they can for those kitties and doggies. My volunteering consisted of clearing out the litter pans, replenishing food and water bowls, sweeping and helping with the laundry. Cleaning litter boxes may not sound all that appealing but I was so happy to do it and be around cats again. Plus you feel so good giving back, and I just really wanted to help the center that gave me a chance to be Milo's mom. Even if it was for a short time. He was such a blessing. Ms. Pauline and Ms. Laura were so nice. They gave me a few instructions and let me do my thing (you kind of have to be a self-starter). There weren't as many kitties as there were when my mom and I went to get Milo during the summer, but the ones they did have were so sweet. I mean sure you have the shy ones who run away, the sleepy ones who slept the whole time and even the lil sickly ones who needed extra TLC but there were also some really active friendly ones too! Three kitties really liked me. A grey one stayed in the back room but always came to the end of the counter waiting for me to scratch it's head. A gray torti (I think that's what he/she was) followed me a bit and liked for me to scratch it's head too, but he/she was kind of flighty. A pregnant long-haired tabby was really vocal and got into everything. She would "meow" for me to scratch her head and followed me everywhere. She was so cute. I'm not sure when she's due but if her babies are anything like her, I wouldn't mind adopting a couple. Another kitty had her babies on Dec. 20th and they were so cute and small. Maybe I could get two of her babies. Who knows! HFLR really is a place for cats but they take dogs too, and they had a dog named Ben. Poor Ben was kind of lonely I think. He whined for company through the door to his section of the building. When I finally went in there for the laundry he was so excited he jumped on me and brought out all of his toys. And he won't no lil doggy either! He was big, solid and very heavy! But he was a total "sweetbaby" though. I'm just so happy that I helped out today and I can't wait to go back! What they do for our furry friends is beyond amazing. If you live in the area you should totally stop by and drop off some pet things or volunteer some of your time. Maybe even give an animal a forever home. And even if you don't live in the area feel free to make a donation online!They are good people and animals! Love Is a Battlefield

Hey peeps!

The holidays were pretty successful for me this year. However, I must say that " Love is a Battlefield" has been playing in my head over and over again. Its a true statement though. I'm not even going to begin to tell you the drama that has ensued over the past day or two. All I have to say is this: family get-together, engagement announcement, by myself. You get the picture. Oh well, what's done is done. Anyway, in feline-related news, I'm going to my volunteer orientation tomorrow at Hope For Life Rescue. I'm really nervous. It will be my first time being around cats since Milo passed away. And since that's where I got him, I'm not sure how I'm going to react. I hope I don't lose it, and I hope that the ladies like me. I am excited to see the new kitty walkways though. I think they're so cool. Well, fellow cat-lovers, wish me luck and I'll tell you all about it tomorrow!!

Hi Again!

I've been talking with my fiance and he is quite salty with me on this XMas Day because I failed to mention that I am a step-kitty momma! B.(what we will call my fiance on this site) has a kitty named Bootz! Now Bootz is a good kitty, he's just shy. I think he really only likes B. and his mom, but he is sweet and B.'s whole world. He's finally warmed up to me a bit and I love him too. So that's that! We will also be seeing my step-kitty baby on this blog and his name is BOOTZ! (He thinks he's cool in the pic.)

Hi everyone!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Today is the day to celebrate your loved ones and friends and all of the gifts and blessings that have been bestowed upon you this year! I leisurely woke up this morning to CATS 101 on Animal Planet. That's one of my favorite shows and watching it made me feel really good. I guess my little Milo is sending me signs that he's around me always. (That's us in the pic. Milo and Puddin Forever!) I hope that everyone has a wonderful Xmas! Really cherish the time that you have with those who are closest to you. Happy Holidays!!

Hi Again!!!!

MERRY XMAS EVE!!! Will there be kitties under my tree? Probably not. :( But that's okay. They will be here soon and I have plenty of other presents to look forward to. For example, check out my Xmas Jammies for this year. My mom and grammy have been getting me new jamjams every Christmas since I was born (probably), and here they are. I love how they have the Pink Panther on them and all of the kitty references (like Purr-fect). My mom picked them out. She is so deep yo. ;) Perfect for this year. I had expected to spend the holidays with my baby Milo, but since that's not possible these make me feel a little closer to him. Anywho folks, I hope you enjoy your lovely Christmas Eve (-ning) and we'll see what "Sandy Paws" left us in the morning.

Hello Everyone!

You all can call me Puddin (my token family nickname) and this blog will be dedicated to my two new kitties (no names yet)and my step-kitty baby Bootz! I became a cat-lover this year and a KMFL (Kitty Momma For Life) when I got my first pet (and kitty) Milo over the summer. Unfortunately Milo passed away due to a Category 4 heart murmur on September 24th, and I've been messed up ever since. Never have I had someone or something effect me in such a profound way. But let me not jump the gun, Milo will be another entry for another day.
Let me tell you something first.....I haven't gotten my kitties yet! They will be here in spring. You see, I'm graduating from VCU, getting married and getting my own place around that time and I figured that would also be a wonderful time to get two new additions to my new fam! Everyone keeps telling me that new kitties will mend my broken heart so I think that by that time I will be ready to give some lucky cats a new home. So I'm sorry guys, no kitties yet. But they will be here soon!! Suspense is exciting okay.....?
I can give you some juicy tidbits though. First!They will be coming from the Hope For Life Rescue Center, a wonderful no-kill shelter (in VA Beach) that lets the kitties roam free within the building. I'm talking wherever they want! And Two! They will be boys, maybe siblings. You never know. But yes my darlings!! That is all I have for now! It is quite late and I decided to get started on this on the spur of the moment and I should probably turn in. But I just wanted to welcome you and thank you for going on this journey with me!! Come along...let us play! ;)
